- Boy's Day/Children's Day
Boy's Day brings with it the anual appearance of colorful Koinobori (Carp streamers) in Japan and here in Hawaii. For this year's edition to our Koinobori collection, we present Koi Line. Two large, colorful koi flutter in a cloudless blue sky. You can just feel Summer is on its way.

- New Year, New Desktops
The new year calls for some new designs, so to welcome 2009 is a new desktop for The Year of the Ox: Ushidoshi: The Year of the Ox. The Lunar New Year is on January 26 this year, so there is still time to welcome yet another year.

Yet more new things on the horizon is the pre-opening of our new store, Mochi Momo. Take a peek as the store comes together over the next few months. It will feature designs from SimpleDesktops as well as store-only designs. And since it is powered by Cafepress, all products are available for purchase even as the store is being built.

- New Halloween Desktop!
Based on the design featured in our Halloween Store, Bucky's Halloween Reeds adds a bit of sweetness to your computer for Halloween. Enjoy!

- New Halloween Store!
Brand new designs are waiting in our new Halloween Store. Choose from kitten eye mini-pins to trick-or-treat shirts, sweaters and tote. Great for joining in on the fun this Halloween.

- A Day For Kids
Today is Boy's Day in Hawaii, a day when colorful koi streamers fly outside homes. Originally celebrated by Japanese immigrants to Hawaii to celebrate the men in the family, Boy's Day was changed to "Children's Day" in Japan back in the late 1940's. However, it is still called "Boy's Day" here in Hawaii and has become a part of island culture. To celebrate, the new desktop Koi Scales is an extreme close up of the stylized scales of a Koi streamer as it flutters in the wind.

- Lucky Rainbows
With St. Patrick's Day around the corner, here is a special desktop to celebrate things lucky. Rainbow Glory features two Pots 'O Gold forming a bright 'glory' (a full-circle rainbow) in the sky. Glories are rare, so catch one for your desktop to add a bit of bright whimsy today.

- Spring Is In The Air
As the weather warms up in the North, the sweet scent of flowers begins to perfume the air. To celebrate the season, and the observance of Girl's Day, little Sakura is back in a new desktop design. Girl's Day 2008 features Sakura in a kimono in front of the flower she is named for. A pink explosion for things girly. More to come, as well as updates to the site.

- A Brand New Year - Part 2
Speaking of New Years, the Lunar year just changed last Thursday. To celebrate, here is a new desktop: Nedoshi* - The Year of The Rat. For anyone born this year (after February 7) and 1996, 1984, 1972 and 1960, this is your year. Enjoy!

*The word 'Nedoshi' is Japanese for 'Rat Year'.

- A Brand New Year
Time sure flies when one's busy. This little collection of desktops has grown so much, it's not so little any more. Unfortunately, this also means no new desktops in quite a while. So, to fix this, there will be changes coming. Out with some of the old to make way for more of the new.

A new system of producing these designs is on the way. Instead of many incremental sizes (1024x768, 1680x1050, etc.), there will be just two: one large image for widescreen (wide) monitors and one large image for fullscreen (full) monitors. Look for these changes in the coming days. Till then, have a (belated) happy new year!

- Valentines 2007
So sorry for the lack of News lately. To show my appreciation to those who hung around, here are two new Valentine Desktops: Lots of Love and Aqua Love. Hope you like them.
